Dr Nandakishore Dukkipati with other Bariatric Surgeons at the International Conclave on Mini Gastric Bypass – An Enigma
Dr. Nandakishore Dukkipati,.a renowned Bariatric surgeon, attended as an invited faculty at the first ever international meet on Mini Gastric Bypass that was held at the Apollo, Delhi, on the 17th and 18th of July 2015. The faculty comprised senior Bariatric surgeons from India and abroad.
Live surgical demonstration and workshops held which featured step by step procedure discussion. Informative videos on complications and interesting cases were screened along with discussions on their management. Evidence-based parley was held amongst doers and non-doers to make it a totally unbiased conclave. The event was endorsed by the OSSI.
A very informative and controversial topics like ‘appropriate patient selection for MGB’ and ‘Insurance approval for Bariatric Surgery’ were addressed by Dr. Nandakishore.
No Bariatric surgery has attracted attention, be it positive or negative, as much as the Mini Gastric Bypass. While many claim it to be the most powerful bariatric procedure suitable for all, others claim that it is not a time tested process. The MGB was originally conceived by Dr. Robert Rutledge in the USA, 16 years ago as a safe, effective and rapid bariatric operation.
