Appendix is a small worm like organ attached to the Caecum. Any infection or inflammationof Appendix is called Appendicitis. It is most common in the age group of 10-25yrs.
- Pain in right lower abdomen, centre of abdomen
- Vomiting and nausea
- Loss of appetite
Appendix can rupture or perforate and pus can spread to entire abdomen
It can get adherent to nearby organs and form a mass
It can get infected repeatedly and give recurrent pain
- Usually done by surgeon by clinical examination
- Ultrasound or CT scan to see the inflamed appendix
- Laparoscopy Appendicectomy to remove the diseased Appendix.
